When I saw the fun green pattern on this shirt at Gap I pretty much fell in love. What I don't love? The wrinkle factor! Believe it not, this is the wrinkle level 15 minutes after ironing. I may try to starch it a bit next time. This necklace was a fun $3 Charming Charlie clearance find. I got the shirt and necklace on the same shopping trip and knew they were meant for each other. IMO, you can't go wrong with green and pink together. They just beg to be paired together!
Hello friends! I am indeed alive. I am feeling much better now and getting back to the old me. Thanks for all the well wishes. Hope you all had a great weekend!
Sometimes I will admit to having the bad habit of proclaiming, "I have nothing to wear!" when really what I mean is, "I have nothing new to wear and therefore don't feel inspired." And while all of my cute blogger and Instagram friends are dipping into their fall wardrobes, I'm over here in a semi-desert-y part of California where it was in the triple digits this weekend. Fall is so far away I can barely stand to Pin a sweater look. Therefore no fall shopping has occurred. All that is to say, everything I'm wearing here with the exception of the fan-fringe necklace and my newly beloved fall must-have leopard pumps is at least a year old. In the case of this green military-esque jacket, it's several years old. *Pats self on back for shopping own closet instead of going shopping.*

Linking up with these lovely ladies today and tomorrow!
Sorry for the unexpected absence. I have been feeling horrible the past few days and have not had any motivation to do much of anything. The heavy duty antibiotics I got yesterday are helping but they've also completely zapped all my energy.
This outfit was actually my casual Friday look last week. I love the blue on blue with the gem statement necklace. Thanks to one of my Instagram friends (sorry I can't remember which one!) for the heads-up that this necklace was available on Very Jane. $13? Don't mind if I do!
Like a lot of bloggers, I read blogs for a long time before starting my own. As soon as I started this little blog I developed a whole new level of appreciation for style bloggers! The time commitment is HUGE. I had no idea. Even though I would love to take pictures and put together a post 7 days a week, that is just not realistic. Enter Instagram. Sometimes I just snap a few outfit pics with my iPhone in lieu of my regular camera. In case you'd like to follow along you can find me: @laurennicholle3
How about you? Do you use Instagram for #ootd (outfit of the day) posts?
Hope everyone has a great Friday and happy weekend! I don't know about you but I am so ready.
It's pretty clear from my blog that I am a color lover. I blame my color cravings on being suppressed for so long in my younger years in a drab school uniform. But sometimes it's good to go back to the basics. This week's Trend Spin theme is black and white. I dressed up the look a little by adding some textual interest (the lace tank) and some fun leopard print heels. By the way, if you haven't picked up these heels yet, run don't walk to Target to get them! They are a fall must-have.
Anyone who has ever done thrift store shopping knows you have to be okay with "the hunt"... digging through stacks of clothes, fighting against too many hangers crammed on one rod, and vying with other shoppers for the perfect find. It can be exhausting! This little Gap dress was an easy find though. The bright green and white geometric pattern instantly stood out to me.
Now, if you know me, you know I am not a dress or skirt type of gal. My shape is more dewdrop than hourglass and I'm always worried about being too bottom heavy. So, while I loved the pattern (and of course the kelly green color!) I knew this shift style dress might not work with my shape. Happily, I think it does work quite well with a belt at the waist.

I am so excited to announce a collaboration with Jenn of The Brandied
Pair: the monthly Sit-Down Style Session! Here's how it works... every
second Friday of the month we'll be hosting a link-up. Show off your
fashion/style blog by linking to your favorite post. Then check out other fabulous bloggers and socialize
while we choose a blogger to feature in next month's Sit-Down Style
Session! The chosen blogger will answer
a few fun questions and choose some favorite outfits to show off. Her
post will be featured on The Brandied Pair and Style of One's Own the
following month where we'll do it all over again! For
this first month we're featuring each other so you can get an idea of
what the Sit-Down Style Session looks like. If you are interested in
being featured in September please email Lauren or Jenn. The link-up list will begin in September. Newbie or
veteran, all are welcome! We hope this will be a fun way to meet other
bloggers and get the inside scoop.
I am Jenn the face and voice behind The Brandied Pair. Founded in May of 2013, The Brandied Pair combines my love for style, fashion and a little of everything else with my husband’s--Jordan Romero from Abre Los Ojos--love for photography. With no formal training in either field, The Brandied Pair serves as an outlet for us to express our individual interests for these arts as well as our love for each other.
1. Describe your Style in 3 words. Classic and Girly with a little bit of Spunk
2. Why did you start blogging? For over a year, I wanted to start blogging. I have been an avid reader of fashion blogs for a very long time. I was showing my husband something on one of my favorite blogs one day and he said “you can totally do this Jenn.” That is what sparked the idea but I totally lacked the confidence. I was worried about what people would think and I was scared that no one would be interested in what I had to say. A good friend of mine gave me the push I needed. She encouraged me to put myself out there; I am so glad she did!
3. What do you like best about blogging and what are your goals for the future? I know this is going to sound sappy but I love how the blogging community really embraces each other. Their support really is what has kept me going. Some of my goals include more collaborations, sponsorships and more giveaways. I really believe keeping your audience interested and giving them opportunities to win items is a huge help in maintaining and growing your readers.
4. Pick 3 favorite outfits and describe why they are your favorite.
I love this outfit because it is casual enough for a brunch with the girls but would also work for dinner with my husband.
I am on of those girls who wear "uniforms" or the same thing but in different colors. At least twice I week I can be found in a pencil skirt, blouse and blazer. I love this pairing because of all the colors a crammed into one look.
This is a typical Saturday outfit. Casual yet put together. I love this pants because of the limitless possibilites.
5. When not blogging what do you do?
My husband and I are big travelers, seems like we are always planning our next big adventure. We also have a little princess puppy named Ella Fitzgerald. When we are home she is the center of our little universe. Right now we are in the process of purchasing our first home, so shopping for my closet has switched to shopping and planning for our new home.
6. You can only shop at one store the rest of your life….What would it be?
I am a total JCrew junkie. I know not very unique or interesting but a girl can’t help what she loves.
**Isn't Jenn amazing?? Thanks so much, Jenn! Hope to see you all in September for the first official link-up! Don't forget to email Lauren or Jenn if you are interested in being featured September 13.
