Outfit: Pink Scarf, Spring Style

TGIF! Don't know about you all but I'm thrilled it's Friday. Temperatures are supposed to be in the low 100's here where I live in California. Some laying out and swimming is in order I think. I was really happy with how this casual work look turned out. I actually got this scarf a while back while I was at Chicos with my mom. I really like the pink abstract print with the green capris, navy blazer, and turquoise necklace. I'm a color lover, what can I say??

Outfit: chambray + red pattern skirt

I've been seeing chambray's styled with skirts on lots of blogs lately. Here is my take. I love the dark denim with the fun red patterned skirt and my favorite mint statement necklace.

Chambray - Love Stitch
Skirt - Burlington Coat Factory ($14!!)
Pumps - Cole Haan, old from Nordstom's Rack current version
Necklace - J Crew similar
Confession: the last time I wore a skirt (excepting maxi skirts) was probably at a funeral. I'm not kidding. I love skirts...on other girls. I struggle with skirts on me though. I am tall (5'9") and I have super wide hips. So I have to be careful to not look bottom heavy. This look works on me because the tucked in chambray accentuates my waist. This visual 'cinching' breaks up the top and bottom half and helps me not to look like a pear. Also, at $14 this skirt was a steal! I'm so much more comfortable taking risks when they come with a small price tag.

Outfit: polka dot + mint

Hey, it's Tuesday already! Is that not just the icing on the cake of a three day weekend? I had a nice Memorial Day weekend. Got a little relaxing in, a lot of work done, and had two delicious BBQs. The weather was just beautiful. Back to the grind today. How about a little mint and polka dot to start the week? Adorable photobombing lab included at no cost. Wishing everyone a great week!

Outfit: pink gingham + mint + pearls

This is one of my favorite outfits as of late! It is preppy and colorful. A very cute Spring look if I do say so myself. I love pink and mint together. I love gingham and pearls together. So I pretty much love everything I go going on here.

Mint blazer - Burlington Coat Factory ($20) similar
White pants - Express
Flats - Target
Necklace - Forever 21
Bracelets - J Crew, Juicy, Forever 21

The other great thing about this outfit is the amazing steal I got on the shirt and blazer. $32 total for both at Burlington Coat Factory. I came -this- close to ordering a pink gingham from J Crew Factory but am glad I waited. Yes, you have to sort through quite a lot of junk to find items you like at discount stores but in my opinion it is so worth it! You just have to learn to enjoy the hunt.

I also got about two days of clear skin last so you get a close-up. Normally I wouldn't let a camera within five feet of my face. My skin is a constant struggle for me. After going through my teen years relatively acne free my 20's have more than made up for lost time.

Pst! Kate Spade on Gilt

Kate Spade is up on Gilt and going fast! Here are my favorites.

I did treat myself to the small multi-color bangle but no more! Quite a deal for $29.

Outift: yellow piped blazer styled three ways

1 Blazer 3 Ways

I love this post! Here's why. Two of my budget-friendly style commandments are at work here.

1. Only buy pieces that you can mix and match. If you pick up an item in a store and can't instantly think of 2-3 items of clothing currently in your closet that you can wear it with, put it back. I'm talking more than just, "Oh hey, this tops goes with two colors of denim and khakis." No, in order for a new piece to come home with me it needs to inspire multiple looks with existing items, preferably across multiple seasons. Mixing and matching is the easiest way to maximize your budget and your wardrobe.

Here, I style my yellow piped Banana Republic blazer three ways for spring. The look on the left is an everyday look with all white and a pop of color with teal wedges. The middle style would be cute for a date (ice cream dates are personally my favorite). And on the right we have a look that is work appropriate but still fun. For winter I can think of many more combinations for this blazer. Versatility is the key word when it comes to budget fashion.

2. Stalk an item before you buy. As I talked about in my post here, I wanted this blazer for months and months. But at $150, it was way out of my budget! I kept an eye out for coupons in my email and also checked Banana Republic online to see if/when it went on sale. Sure enough, my patience paid off and I got this lovely lemon beauty for 50% off. $75 for a high quality and versatile piece was an investment and certainly out of my normal range but well worth it.

Outfit: blush pink + sequins + olive green

If you've looked through my blog you know I like me some color/texture plays! I love this look I put together earlier this week. Feminine but not too feminine with the olive green pants. Pairing the sequin tank under a blazer makes it work appropriate and not too bling bling. That little tank has got to be the best $20 I've ever spent; I wear it all the time!

PS- I may be way late to the party but I just now discovered Pixlr. They have a website and a fantastic free app. I am SO impressed! I use Photoshop at home on my laptop but Pixlr gives me the option to edit photos on any computer with an internet connection and then upload directly to my Flickr. The setup is way similar to Photoshop as well. The app is pretty awesome too. If you're looking for a (free) photo editing program I would definitely recommend Pixlr.
