Outfit: leopard + green

I am stepping outside of my normal Monday-Wednesday-Friday posting schedule because how could I not participate in the animal print theme link-up with Erin @ The Fashion Canvas & Laura @ Walking in Memphis in High Heels?! Green and leopard is one of my favorite combinations. They just compliment each other so well.

I am such a fan of leopard print. In addition to just being fun, it works perfectly as both the focal point of an outfit and an accent. My Target leopard print ballet flats are a perfect example of how versatile leopard print can be: here paired with blue and green; here dressing up a neutral look; and here with a fun pink, green, and white look. I wear those flats a lot!

Outfit: mint + polka dots

Starting to feel like myself again after last week's sadness. I laughed at really stupid things last night for no reason other than it felt good. Today is my grandpa's funeral so I'm sure it will be a sad day but I am feeling much less gloomy than I was. Thank you again for all the kind words and prayers...I'm sure that has a lot to do with my spirits being lifted.

I can't be the only one who freezes in her office and boils outside, right?! Along with a granny sweater I keep in my office and sipping hot tea, blazers are my go-to to keep warm in my cold office. And it's a piece of cake to take the blazer off once you get outside to warmer temperatures. This is one of my favorite blazers and one of my favorite blouses...not sure why I haven't paired them together before now!

Outfit: teal gingham + coral skinies

Thank you again for all the kind words and prayers for my grandpa. <3 I am so overwhelmed by how kind the style blogger community is. It's so nice to see women supporting each other and not being critical and tearing one-another down. Hopefully I will have no more sad posts. :)

Today I have a simple but fun casual Friday outfit. There is nothing like a little color to bring a smile to your face. These skinnies are currently 50% an already ridiculously low price of $34 on C Wonder with the promo code HEATWAVE

Please ignore the lovely hair situation happening here. We don't even want to talk about how many times I managed to wash my hair last week (hint: not much at all).

Outfit: emerald + sparkles

First I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a kind comment on my last post and to say a prayer for my grandfather. As you may have guessed, that is the reason I have been MIA these past few days. All his life, my grandpa was a hard-worker, determined, and even a bit stubborn. And even now at the end his personality is evident. :) It has been a truly rough week and may be a rough few days to come. Update: My grandfather went to be with the Lord at about 1:30am California time. I feel numb. I just try to picture the enormous smile on his face when he was reunited with my grandmother (they were married 50+ years). Earlier in the evening I had told him to be sure to give my grandma a hug and to tell her I loved her. <3 I know she got the message tonight.

Somehow it feels odd to post these pictures where I look so happy and carefree because that is not how I've felt this past week at all. I took these pictures a few hours before I got the news. On a lighter note, I absolutely love this sparkly, multi-color, sequin tank from Forever 21. It reminds me of the J Crew sequin tee that was not quite in my budget.

7x7 Challenge #2

I am so excited to be doing my second 7x7 Challenge! You can check out my first 7x7 Challenge here. The first 7x7 Challenge was tough because shoes were included as one of your seven items. This time shoes counted as accessories and accessories are unlimited! Even if this second challenge was a little easier it still really pushed me to find new ways to mix and match. In fact, I ended up coming up with ten outfits from my seven pieces (and I unintentionally only wore the green blouse with one look so you can see how you could easily come up with 15+ outfits with just these seven pieces).

7x7 Challenge

1. Mint 3/4 Sleeve Blazer - Burlington Coat Factory, similar
2. Green Silk Blouse - Ann Taylor, similar
3. Sequin Tank - J Crew Factory, similar
4. Ivory Neck-tie Blouse - Banana Republic Outlet, similar
5. Dots Sweater - GAP
6. Navy Lace Skirt - Forever 21
7. Navy Capris - J Crew Factory

Now for the fun part....the outfits!

7x7 Challenge

I always learn from doing challenges like this one. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention! Thanks to Ma Nouvelle Mode for hosting! Hope everyone is having a great week.

**If you are so inclined, prayers would be really appreciated for my grandfather who is nearing the end of his time here on earth at nearly 97 years old. My heart is heavy. I try to focus on the fact that he will soon be out of pain, free from the cruelty that is dementia, and reunited with my grandmother.
